Carrie K. Tapia joined the legal profession with a desire to assist those needing a voice in the legal system. Ms. Tapia obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas prior to attending law school. The skills she learned during her social work education and career allow Ms. Tapia to support her clients while assisting them in navigating the legal system. Ms. Tapia listens to her clients’ particular and unique issues and collaborates with them to ensure their needs are met. Ms. Tapia also previously worked as a caseworker for Child Protective Services (CPS) and utilizes this experience to guide clients as they navigate through involvement with CPS, offers advice on how to avoid CPS litigation, and represents clients in appealing unfavorable CPS outcomes.
Ms. Tapia is empathetic to her clients’ struggles and recognizes that any involvement with the legal system disrupts a person’s entire life as well as the lives of loved ones. Likewise, Ms. Tapia recognizes that a change to one aspect of a client’s life effects changes in the rest of their life. Therefore, Ms. Tapia implements a problem-solving approach and works closely with her clients to alleviate the stress and confusion often caused by ongoing litigation.
Ms. Tapia strives to meet the needs of her clients by ensuring that each client understands all of their legal options. After a thorough review of the issue and potential legal remedies, Ms. Tapia’s clients are empowered to make the best decisions for their future. Ms. Tapia then supports clients throughout the process, offering options, explanations, and support until an end result is achieved.
Ms. Tapia has utilized this unique approach to represent clients from various backgrounds, lifestyles, and circumstances. She has represented clients in numerous court hearings and trials for a variety of family law matters, including divorce and property division, child custody disputes, child support modifications, and Child Support Services cases. Ms. Tapia also has experience representing clients in jury trials concerning child custody disputes.
Ms. Tapia is an active member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association. She was selected by her peers as a Top Attorney for the Fort Worth Magazine every year since 2018 and as a Top Attorney for the 360 West Magazine every year since 2020. Ms. Tapia was also named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2020.
